What is Your Foundation in Life?

What is your foundation of faith built on? Is it your own understanding of being a Christian, is it traditions from your family or even religious traditions?  Where do you get your foundation of faith?  Is Jesus Christ your foundation or is he just a concept in your life and not truly the foundation of who you truly are? If Jesus Christ is not your foundation then Your foundation will one day crumble and burn, but if Jesus is your foundation then you will be saved and have a rock solid foundation. I pray that you will make Jesus your foundation and be saved by his love and grace!  AMEN!!

1 Corinthians 3:10-11

By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Oops, I Said it Again!

Do we sometimes speak before we think about what we say? Are we good listeners to our spouses, friends, co workers, family, etc?  Instead of just spitting out the words let us listen then speak. Let’s not become angry as this shows unrighteousness in our hearts. By allowing God to speak in us and through us we will not speak out of anger and we will listen to our loved ones. I encourage each of you to pray about your anger and your tongue towards others.  Anger can destroy so much in our relationships. I believe that this one reason God put these words in James’s heart. I’m betting James was a man that struggled with anger.  It would’ve been hard not to struggle with this and Jesus as your brother, talk about your brother being the favorite and doing nothing wrong.  But also James’s words are verified to be true because he lived with Jesus everyday and he saw and listened to His brother Jesus and he realized Jesus is the real deal.  If anyone could’ve not followed Jesus, His brother would have been the first to expose Jesus if he wasn’t who he said he was.  So let’s be slow to speak and quick to listen to bring glory to God!  AMEN!!

James 1:19-20

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

Peace or Resentment, It’s Your Choice

Do you live your life with peace in your heart?  Or how about do you try to live with peace towards everyone?  This is very difficult to do because we all have someone in our life that this is very difficult to do this with.  This person could be a co-worker, ex-spouse, spouse, family member, child, parent, friend, a church member, whoever that person is we need to pray for them and ask God to put peace in our hearts towards that person.  By doing this we are acting more like Christ and Christ sees this as being holy.  And without holiness we cannot see our Lord.  The next time you see this person(s) in your life that you do not have a peaceful relationship with, then take a step back, pray for them and ask God for peace in your heart towards them.  See what happens with your heart and your relationship with that person(s).  You will be amazed!!  AMEN!!

Hebrews 12:14

Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

Are Your Words Like Honey or Like Vile?

How important are using words the correct way?  Are the words you are saying to your spouse, children, co-workers, family members, and all other people encouraging them or discouraging them?  By saying things like…”Have a great day!” “Great job on the project.” It is so nice to see you again.”  “I’m so proud of you.”  Thank you!” These things and many more positive and encouraging things can be the exact thing they needed to hear to get them through a tough time in their life, to keep them motivated in moving forward, gives them needed confidence, and so many more ways to build them up.  Just a few simple positive words can change a person forever.  Negative words can do the same in changing their life, but in a negative impact.  The words you say matter, make sure your words will be like honey and not vile.  AMEN!!

Proverbs 16:24

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

The Good Ol’ Days…

Do you remember the good ol’ days?  You know when life was simpler, less stress at work, or when we were kids, or when we first got married, or before we had kids, or when life was just easier, before we had responsibilities.  You know those times in our lives that we miss.  Why do we sometimes say, “why we’re the old days better than these?”  To me it’s almost like God new that most of us or a large portion of us would live in the past and reminisce about those days, those times in our life that seemed easier, maybe even better then what is going on in your life today.  Now let’s think about this, if you live in the past how can you improve your life for the future?  You can’t! ‘If you don’t live in the NOW, how can you draw closer to God?
Asking the questions like  “why we’re the old days better than these?” are not the ways God wants us to live.  God wants us to live in the NOW, not the past but in the now and following His plan and not hoping and wishing it was a different than what your life is now.  So leave the past in the past, live in the present and you will be able to follow God’s will for your life.  AMEN!!

Ecclesiastes 7:10

Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?” For it is not wise to ask such questions.

If You Haven’t Done It, It’s Time.

What a glorious day it will be in His name. If you looked into your life right now would you call it worthy to God? Are there things in your life you need to give over to Christ?  Maybe asking for a humble heart, being gentle to others or always showing Christ’s love to the people around you. I pray that you find the spirit of peace in your heart today and that you seek Jesus in all you do!!  AMEN!!

Ephesians 4:1-3 NIV

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

In His Words,

Travis

Where Is God In All This Turmoil?

Have you ever doubted or thought that God is still alive and active?  Right now in our world you look around and see all the evil, pain, wars, natural disasters, and more of that is happening around us.  I sometimes think, how can God be apart of this and is this really part of His plan?  Then I see how God is working this plan out and preparing our hearts for Jesus’s return. God is powerful and He is sharper than any two edge sword and is cutting through people’s souls and calling them back to Him. God’s doubled edge sword is judging the thoughts and attitudes of this world and dividing the souls and spirits so more will come His way.  God is working in big ways right now and we need to be prepared for the works He is going to do in our lives.  God is alive and active, let’s seek Him so we can help bring more to Him and away from the world.  AMEN!!

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
